Description
Aromas of fennel. A rather full-bodied and dark-colored País, a wine with a lot of character, with a subtle touch of French Oak due to barrel aging.
In the valley of Santa Rosa de Lavaderos, each small owner had vineyards and made wine with País grapes, the first variety to reach America from Europe. This wine was carefully made by a third generation member of the family which owns the farm. The head-pruned and ungrafted vineyards are planted on gentle slopes of the hills of the Coastal Range, less than a kilometer away from the Maule River.

Viticulture
The vineyards are planted on gentle slopes of the hills of the Coastal Range, less than a kilometer away from the Maule River. They receive minimum intervention and produce low yields. There are olive trees, sour cherry trees, and asparagus and fennel shrubs in between them. They are also next to some of the last native forest in the area. The grapes where picked on March the 8th from a plot right next to the hills, which for the year 2022 produced smaller berries with lots of color and concentration.
Vinification
This wine is from 100% País grapes. The extraction of tannins was very careful; with gentle punch downs and relatively low fermentation temperatures, (País tends to have “rustic” tannins). The wine was aged in three old French oak barrels for five months before bottling (only 775 bottles made!).
